The following notice was recently released by the Office of National Statistics.

9  October 2008: Low Birthweight Live Births, 2004
There has been an error identified in the proportion of live births under 2500g in one London Borough. This was due to a production error, and led to the results for Greenwich to be excessive. This also has an impact on counts for a few other London boroughs where births were registered in Greenwich, but the mother's area of usual residence was elsewhere.

We will correct the figures on Neighbourhood Statistics as soon as possible, and have added footnotes to the existing dataset to alert users of the issue. Meanwhile, the corrected data are available on the main National Statistics website in the revised 'Key Population and Vital Statistics for Local and Health Authorities, 2004' (opens a pdf). ONS apologises for any inconvenience caused by this error.
